Virginia Lawyers Weekly selected McGuireWoods partner Janet Peyton for its annual Leaders in the Law list honoring prominent lawyers across the commonwealth for significant accomplishments changing the law, serving the community and improving Virginia’s justice system. The honorees will be profiled in a special Virginia Lawyers Weekly supplement in October.
Peyton serves as managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Richmond office. She focuses on intellectual property and data privacy and security, including preventive data security and compliance issues after a data breach. She also assists clients with the strategic management of large U.S. and foreign trademark portfolios, providing worldwide brand protection, enforcement, licensing and transactional IP services to retail, manufacturing, professional services companies and numerous institutions of higher education.
Among her past honors, BTI Consulting named Peyton a Client Service All-Star and The National Law Journal recognized her as a Technology Trailblazer. She is a past chair of the Virginia State Bar Intellectual Property Section. Peyton is the 16th McGuireWoods lawyer to be selected for Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s Leaders in the Law since the program’s inception in 2006.
“It is an honor to join the impressive list of attorneys selected for Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s 2024 Leaders in the Law class,” Peyton said. “I am proud to share this recognition with my McGuireWoods colleagues who earned this distinction before me and contributed to our firm and profession.”
The 2024 Leaders in the Law class will be feted at an Oct. 17 reception at the John Marshall Ballroom in Richmond.
