Brandi Howard, an accomplished litigator who advises corporate and individual clients in commercial disputes, appeals and government investigations, has returned to McGuireWoods as a partner in Washington, D.C. She is the ninth partner to join the firm’s D.C. office since July 2024.
Howard represents clients in cases involving constitutional issues such as free speech, religious freedom and sovereign immunity; breach of contract disputes; and consumer protection claims. In addition, she counsels clients in government and congressional investigations and conducts internal investigations to address potential regulatory and workplace concerns.
“Brandi is a versatile attorney and strategic adviser with a proven ability to solve clients’ most complicated legal challenges,” said Noreen Kelly, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation.
Michael Herring, chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, added: “Our clients value Brandi’s skill and insight and her commitment to excellence, as do her McGuireWoods colleagues. She is an important contributor to our practice and we are proud to have her back on our team.”
In addition to her practice, Howard serves on the board of Just the Beginning – A Pipeline Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring young students and increasing diversity in the legal profession and judiciary. McGuireWoods is a supporter of Just the Beginning, which provides resources and development for students from middle school to law school to help build a foundation of skills for careers in the legal field.
“McGuireWoods’ collaborative culture and core values are qualities that set the firm apart,” Howard said. “I am excited to reconnect with colleagues and clients and look forward to building my practice here.”
McGuireWoods was recognized as a commercial litigation powerhouse in BTI Consulting Group’s 2025 litigation survey, based on feedback from corporate counsel. McGuireWoods has earned BTI’s top ranking for commercial litigation for three consecutive years.
Howard’s return continues a surge of growth in McGuireWoods’ D.C. office, an expansion that strengthened the firm’s capabilities in practices including antitrust; commercial litigation; energy regulation; government investigations and white collar litigation; healthcare; and securities enforcement and regulatory counseling.
“We are delighted to welcome Brandi home to McGuireWoods as we continue growing our D.C. office and strengthening our client service capabilities,” said Elizabeth Hogan, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ D.C. office.
