January 3, 2025

McGuireWoods Charlotte partner William N. Harris was named to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2024 Real Estate Power List. The list recognizes top lawyers in a particular practice area who are leaders in their field and known for their experience and accomplishments.

Harris represents clients in major commercial real estate deals across the Southeast and nationwide. He advises on the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of office, retail and other commercial properties. He also assists businesses with commercial leases and counsels private equity clients on the real estate aspects of acquisition and sale transactions.

Harris told North Carolina Lawyers Weekly that he attributes his successful practice to tenacity and experience.

He said it takes a mix of energy and patience plus legal experience to thrive in a fast-moving practice. “Showing up and staying engaged pays off in the long run.”

Harris said the growth of McGuireWoods’ real estate practice in North Carolina and nationwide ranks among the firm’s top accomplishments.

“We’ve been able to leverage the rich tradition of our Charlotte legacy firm to put in place a practice group with diverse skills and approaches to further the firm’s overall mission,” he said. McGuireWoods’ real estate group represents investors, developers, financial institutions and Fortune 100 companies in matters throughout the United States and abroad. The firm earned nationwide Tier 1 rankings for land use and zoning law, real estate law and real estate litigation in the 2025 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”
