Carter leads McGuireWoods’ ClientSync team, which oversees the firm’s Legal Project Management (LPM) efforts. She has extensive firsthand experience in budgeting, managing and overseeing complex transactional matters for a variety of clients.
Carter focuses on assisting the firm’s attorneys in implementing LPM principles and tools in their practices. She educates and assists attorneys on how to scope, budget, and efficiently manage their matters. As the leader of the ClientSync team, she works directly with the firm’s attorneys, business development team, finance department and clients to handle client and attorney LPM needs. Carter also works directly with clients in developing their own legal project management initiatives. Carter is Yellow Belt-certified in Legal Lean Sigma and Project Management, and she has attended numerous legal project management workshops.
For over a decade, Carter represented financial institutions in connection with the structuring, negotiation and documentation of syndicated, club and single lender senior credit facilities. Her lending experience includes investment grade financings, leveraged acquisition financings (involving strategic buyers and private equity firms), multicurrency and cross-border financings, first lien and second lien financings and asset based financings and covers a broad range of industry groups, such as healthcare, waste management, business services, retail, beverage distribution, construction and consumer products.
In addition to her role with the ClientSync team, Carter serves as the Charlotte office pro bono co-coordinator. In this role, Carter facilitates the office’s efforts to provide pro bono services to clients in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and surrounding communities, often through local non-profit legal service providers, such as Legal Aid of NC, Legal Services of the Southern Piedmont, Council for Children’s Rights, and Safe Alliance.
