Dylan is a high-stakes commercial litigator. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, including federal- and state-court appeals, high-dollar insurance recovery, intellectual property, products liability, and class actions. He draws on his experience in both trial and appellate courts to help clients navigate all stages of the litigation process.

Dylan’s pro bono work involves representing Charlotte-area tenants in eviction proceedings and migrant parents in immigration-related custody disputes.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Dylan served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Albert Diaz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Chief Judge Dolly M. Gee of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He was also an associate in the Los Angeles office of another major international law firm.

Dylan graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as articles editor for the American Criminal Law Review and participated in the Federal Legislation Clinic.

Appellate Matters

  • Before the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, successfully briefed and argued appeal in complex contract dispute concerning the purchase of real estate necessary to build school.
  • Before the Supreme Court of North Carolina, successfully briefed appeal challenging a major national financial institution’s HAMP loan modification practices.
  • Before the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, successfully briefed appeal by a former executive challenging the ERISA benefits decision made by large national rail transportation company.
  • Before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, successfully briefed appeal challenging national loan servicer’s registration practices.
  • Before the Supreme Court of North Carolina, briefed appeal regarding interlocutory appeal jurisdiction, standing, and substantive zoning laws on behalf of county within North Carolina (matter remains pending).
  • Represented women’s health clinic in landmark reproductive rights litigation before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana and U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Briefed appeals and secured appellate victories in state appellate courts in North Carolina, California, and Illinois.

Trial Court Matters

  • Secured favorable settlement on behalf of international commercial cold storage company in insurance, regulatory, and construction indemnity lawsuit before the North Carolina Business Court.
  • Briefed and argued summary judgment and complex discovery motions in products liability dispute in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado on behalf of large construction materials manufacturer. After near-total summary judgment victory, the client obtained a favorable settlement.
  • Successfully represented a variety of clients—including national and international energy companies, national defense contractors, private equity firms, universities, and government utility providers—in pursuit of insurance coverage for underlying lawsuits against the clients.
  • Won complete summary judgment victory on behalf of major pharmaceutical company unfair and deceptive trade practices action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
  • Defeated complex international discovery action under 28 U.S.C. § 1782 on behalf of foreign property development conglomerate.
  • Represent major national construction materials manufacturer in products liability actions nationwide.
  • Obtained favorable individual settlement on behalf of major mortgage servicer in a putative nationwide class action filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
  • Secured summary judgment victory on behalf of large agricultural cooperative in bet-the-company litigation in California state court.
  • Obtained favorable settlement on behalf of international airline in a consumer class action in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
