Joe serves as strategic advisor to the chair of McGuireWoods. In this position, he focuses on the identification and development of strategic firmwide growth initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to this role, Joe spent years as the firm’s chief marketing and business development officer, overseeing client relations and development, communications, media relations and marketing.
Before joining McGuireWoods, Joe served as chief marketing officer for two international law firms and as global director of business development for a third. A former practicing attorney and longtime legal journalist, he served as editor, publisher and senior business executive of American Lawyer Media, where he managed a range of publications and businesses, including The National Law Journal, Texas Lawyer and VerdictSearch.
A frequent writer and speaker on topics related to law, marketing, business development, competitive intelligence and journalism, Joe has been a longtime leader in the Legal Marketing Association and currently serves as treasurer for the Northeast region.
