Matt is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, handling a wide variety of business litigation in state and federal courts across the country. Before joining McGuireWoods, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Payne, Senior District Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division.
Matt earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2023, graduating summa cum laude and Order of the Coif. During law school, Matt interned for the Honorable Robert E. Payne of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, completed externships with the Office of the Federal Public Defender and the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia, and served as a manuscripts editor for the University of Richmond Law Review. Before law school, Matt spent several years touring in rock and roll bands and in sales and finance departments for multiple major automotive manufacturers.
