Paul has focused on employment law matters since joining the firm in 1998. He represents employers throughout the country in many different industries, including for example financial services, private equity, food services, staffing, manufacturing, healthcare, and higher education.
Employment Counseling
Paul partners with clients to help them pro-actively implement best practices to comply with employment laws, respond to personnel situations, and reduce employee related legal risks. He focuses on counseling clients regarding executive contracts and compensation, employment matters related to mergers and acquisitions, restructuring efforts and reductions in force, applicant screening and hiring issues, compensation programs, leave practices, employment policies and procedures, and discrimination allegations. He also regularly helps companies protect their investment in their employees and information and advises them on non-compete and trade secret issues.
Regulatory Work and Government Contractors
Paul represents government contractors throughout the country on implementing cost effective and practical programs that comply with affirmative action regulations, and he regularly represents clients during compliance reviews by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. He also represents employers in front of various state and federal agencies, including the Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Employment Litigation
Paul has extensive experience in all phases of employment litigation. He has defended and prosecuted non-competition agreement, trade secret, employee raiding and unfair competition cases; defended employers in race, gender, age and disability lawsuits; represented companies in cases related to pay and benefits; prosecuted civil actions against disloyal officers and employees; and represented employers in FINRA arbitrations.
